The Microsoft Health Users Group is a membership community within the HIMSS Users Group Alliance Program, providing technology leadership and knowledge for improving healthcare delivery and efficiency. Members of MSHUG can network, exchange ideas, promote learning, and share solutions with more than 5,000 dedicated members around the world who use Microsoft-based technology to improve the quality and efficiency of their work environment. 

I attended MSHUG at Microsoft’s Redmond Corporate Campus in Q4 2010, and learned quite a bit about the involvement of Microsoft in the booming Healthcare space.  I thought I would share….

Why social networks can be dangerous tools

With the dawn of 2011, companies are hiring. I was doing some reading the other day, and came across a few articles about how recruiters now prefer LinkedIn and other social networks over the more traditional, Monster-type job sites.  

I agree with the reasons why. They get more qualified candidates, and in less time.

Why I’m done with Google / Postini

We are a mostly Microsoft shop using Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, SQL Server, Active Directory, Forefront, Hyper-V, Office applications and soon Office 365.  But we have one application, a very important one, which handles all of our email hygiene – Postini. We have recommended it for years.  Until now…

Cool Dish Network App. What about the future of enterprise apps?

My TV provider is Dish Network*. Dish Network TV has its challenges, mainly the remote control. It’s just not that easy to click your way through the series of screens. You are required to access different menus and selections by using the up/down/left/right arrow keys; it is really a crud version of a mouse. It works, but it can be wearing if you are searching for movies or shows on the DVR.
