A lot of seemingly unrelated threads came together for me last week at the SharePoint Conference, and it turned out to be a very worthwhile experience. But it didn’t seem, at first, that it would turn out that way. When they told us Monday morning in the keynote address that there would be no news whatsoever on the next version of SharePoint, I was very disappointed. Why have a big conference and not give any news on the next version? For me, that’s always been one of the big things that make these conferences exciting.

This year C/D/H sent eight SharePoint consultants to the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2011 in Aneheim, California. Why? Well, we believe SharePoint is a transformative technology for business. Our clients count on us to transform business problems and opportunities into solutions utilizing their investment in SharePoint. When our clients think of SharePoint they think of C/D/H. I know that sounds trite and “salesy” but we really take this to heart when we go to conferences.

This was the title of a session I attended at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference this week. At the session, I was shown out-of-the-box, two way synchronization between a MS Project 2010 file and a SharePoint 2010 list. I was impressed, and loved the idea of having my project teams update tasks, on our project team site, and having that updated data in my project file to do further analysis and reporting for my project sponsors.
