Who deployed over 20,000 users on OCS using Enterprise Voice?  Microsoft.

Twenty thousand users all taking, making and redirecting calls through Microsoft’s generation 1 voice product.  It’s hard to believe that this product has only been out for 9 months.  The sessions I had were FULL.  Last year, there was a buzz, but it seemed that nobody cared about collaboration.  Now the rooms are crowded, but I think what truly amazed me was the amount of users that have deployed OCS, at least, in a lab environment.

I don’t have any juicy details on the enhancements coming out in the next version, but here is what I do know:

There will be a “Wave 13”.  “Wave 13” will be going into the TAP (Technical Adoption Program) very soon.  There will be a QFE in the fall to remove the RFC compliance for SIP traffic.  This will increase the integration with Cisco Call Manager 4.x, 5.x and 6.x.  Cisco and Microsoft are working together to test this solution.  Cisco will support direct SIP to OCS in 7.x natively with the RFC compliant SIP addressing.

Hopefully I’ll have many more cool announcements!  Day 2 is now here!
